We provide a caring, secure environment through individual attention and group activities, and we organize a range of leisure activities for children between the ages of 3 to 11.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Activity Planning: Provide safe, creative, and appropriate play opportunities, including preparing activities, organising programmes, and arranging equipment. Ensure all activities are carried out within an equal opportunity framework. Undertake necessary training, including a nationally recognised playwork course. Encourage community-wide participation and activity planning and delivery.
- Liaison: Develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents to facilitate day‑to‑day caring needs. Encourage parental involvement and support through effective working relationships. Consult with children and involve them in the planning of activities.
- Supervision and Care of Children: Ensure activities are carried out safely and responsibly in accordance with statutory responsibilities. Ensure food provision follows the Food and Safety Act 1990 guidelines and meets dietary requirements.
- Direct Playwork: Help the coordinator to ensure a wide range of creative and enjoyable activities are offered. Ensure play meets the full range of children’s individual and group needs.
- Health and Safety: Maintain good standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times. Be responsible for Health and Safety standards appropriate for the children’s needs. Record any accidents in the accident book. Ensure child is collected by a person known to Beams of Light staff. Maintain confidentiality of workplace information. Provide a quality check on equipment and the play environment before the after‑school care session.
- Miscellaneous: Promote the aims and objectives, policies, and practices of Beatrix Potter School. Carry out other duties of an equivalent nature as determined from time to time. Assist in outreach and promotion of the centre.
After School Care Duties: Provide care for children after school as defined by school schedule.
Contract & Compensation:
- Salary: £15 per hour (or £14 – £15 hourly)
- Location: Beatrix Potter Primary School, London, SW18 3ER
- Contract type: Permanent, Part‑time, Self‑Employed
- Weekly hours: 12 to 15 hours per week
- Operating hours: 3pm to 6pm, Monday – Friday (Term Time Only)
