ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sourcing and Recruiting team is a full stack team owning Beamery’s core CRM experience, working closely with all areas of the business to deliver a seamless sourcing and hiring workflow with a focus on high quality candidate matching and vacancy calibration.

Our tech stack is: TypeScript, React, Kubernetes, Istio, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.

We are looking for a talented Staff Engineer to technically lead a high performing autonomous product team. Staff Software Engineers at Beamery align themselves with the strategic priorities of the business, working inside a Product team to take the biggest projects from the discovery phase all the way to production. They provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers from the teams they work inside, playing a key role in raising the bar for Engineering performance. They are also proactive in helping the wider best practices of Engineering across the business in close collaboration with other Staff and Principal Engineers.

What will you do as a Staff Engineer at Beamery?

  • Regularly shipping scalable, performant software as part of a Product team.
  • Set the standard for operational awareness, supporting your team to own their services end-to-end.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering Managers on initiatives by scoping and sizing for new projects and features for your team.
  • Design solutions, produce architectures and write RFC’s for new projects and features for your team.
  • Coaching and mentoring Engineers all the way up to Senior level.
  • Evangelise Beamery Engineering technical standards through Tribes.
  • Collaborate on delivering your teams solutions with non-technical stakeholders including Sales, Customer Success and our high profile, Fortune 500 customers.

Who are we looking for?

  • A proven track record of designing and delivering scalable cloud-based software and services.
  • Demonstrable experience of running and supporting services in production environments.
  • Previous experience as a Staff or Senior Engineer.
  • Ability to collaborate with non-technical colleagues to convert ambiguously defined problems into well-understood requirements and pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong experience building and operating backend systems in complex environments.
  • Expertise with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js.
  • Ensuring quality and reliability through unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
  • Experience with frontend applications built in React.
  • A strong understanding of caching strategies for backend services and message queues.
  • Exposure to DevOps, incident management and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Kafka and exposure to SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting issues using instrumentation and logs.
  • Demonstrating ownership and initiative with experience driving team projects from conception to successfully delivering business value.
  • An impact-focussed mindset aligned with agile principles.
  • A sense of empathy for users, teammates, colleagues and partners.
  • A genuine desire to help the team work better together with a healthy dose of fun.
