About the role:

We’re looking for a mission-driven, performance-focused, and coaching-loving People Performance Partner to join our People team. You’ll be the driving force behind strengthening manager effectiveness, team performance, and organisational health across Beam. Partnering directly with our leadership team and the Associate Director of People, you’ll ensure our managers are equipped to lead high-performing, accountable teams as we scale. This is the perfect opportunity for someone passionate about making 'great leadership' feel practical and impactful.

You’ll Be:

  • Strengthening manager capability - acting as the go-to partner for managers to help them address issues early, set clearer expectations, and run structured feedback conversations.
  • Driving early performance intervention - helping managers identify and handle underperformance quickly and constructively through structured improvement plans.
  • Resolving complex people situations - leading our approach to grievances, disciplinary matters, and sensitive conflicts with clarity and professionalism.
  • Supporting consistent performance management - ensuring reviews are thoughtful, evidence-based, and consistently applied across all teams at Beam.
  • Maintaining Team health - building relationships with Team leads to surface risks around trends or engagement before they escalate.
  • Acting as a champion for accountability - helping managers reach clear, fair decisions quickly to maintain a culture of high performance.

You are:

  • A natural relationship builder - quickly establishing trust and rapport with managers and senior leaders to become a credible, sought-after coach.
  • An inventive builder – you enjoy finding solutions to complex people challenges and have the creativity to build out the processes, policies, and frameworks that turn People strategy into a reality.
  • Results-driven - you thrive working towards clear KPIs, such as improving manager effectiveness scores and reducing the time to resolve performance cases.
  • A confident coach – you have a track record of helping others structure difficult conversations and make well-judged decisions under pressure.
  • Adaptive and resilient - you thrive in the fast-paced environment of a growing startup and remain optimistic when navigating complex human dynamics.
  • A strong multi-tasker - incredibly organised and comfortable switching between coaching a manager, resolving an ER case, and analysing team data.

You'll need:

  • Demonstrable experience in People Partnering or ER - specifically within a startup or fast-paced environment, with a heavy focus on manager enablement and performance.
  • A strong sense of diplomacy - you know how to navigate sensitive employee situations with professionalism and reduce risk to the company.
  • A creative, growth mindset - you don’t just follow a handbook; you bring novel ideas to improve team dynamics and manager confidence.
  • Incredible discovery techniques - strong listening and questioning skills to uncover the root causes of performance issues and identify the best path forward.
