At Beam, you get to do work that matters for the world. We’re solving the world's toughest social problems with an incredible team, tech and AI. And we’re growing fast. It’s not easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. Join a company at the forefront of social impact, driving first-of-its-kind positive change. You’ll be part of a high-performance culture where you'll make a huge impact, rapidly progress your career, and truly enjoy your work.
About the role
Are you a sharp, ambitious early-career professional who wants to learn how a category-defining AI company wins public sector work, and own a genuinely critical piece of it from day one? As our Bids Executive, you'll be the engine of our scoping function, deciding which opportunities Beam pursues across the UK and internationally. This isn't an admin role dressed up in startup language. You will be our eyes and ears in the market, and your work dictates our growth.
A major part of your mission is scoping, which is where winning starts: identifying the massive opportunities that will put Beam’s AI into the hands of thousands more frontline workers. By understanding exactly where the public sector is heading, you'll drive the strategic conversations with our sales team that decide what we chase. Alongside shaping our market strategy, you will learn the craft of bid writing from the inside. We don’t expect you to have all the answers on day one. You’ll jump straight into live bids, absorb feedback, and visibly level up your skills every month, all while owning the knowledge base that makes our entire operation faster and sharper.
Our software is growing fast, and we're building the bids team of the future to power it. AI has changed the game, and we need someone ready to rewrite the rulebook. You'll take us from 0-to-1, designing innovative processes from scratch and deciding how AI can supercharge the way we draft and win. We are setting the new standard for world-class proposal work in public sector tech. You won't be inheriting a playbook. You'll be writing it.
You’ll be:
- Owning our market scoping: Serving as our frontline scout to identify the high-impact UK and international contracts that will fuel Beam's growth. You will actively monitor the market and proactively get Beam into the room with public sector buyers long before a tender even drops.
- Driving the commercial strategy: You won't just find opportunities; you’ll dictate what we do with them. You will lead scoping sessions with our Sales teams, initiate crucial go/no-go discussions, and ensure we only chase the contracts worth winning.
- Mastering the craft of bid drafting: This is where you hone your skills and make your mark. You will jump straight into drafting compelling, high-quality bid responses, working alongside the team to shape the winning narratives that secure major public sector contracts.
- Owning our knowledge and communications: Acting as the central hub for our bids. You will manage crucial bid correspondence and own Beam's knowledge base, from AI-powered scoping templates to content libraries.
- Making us faster and sharper: Constantly challenging the status quo to improve our ways of working. You will find innovative ways to leverage AI and cut administrative overhead to streamline our processes.
- Telling our story & empowering the business: Reporting on our win rates and achievements, while helping to deliver high-impact procurement training sessions that equip the wider commercial team to succeed.
You are:
- Sparky and proactive: you bring energy to everything you do, and you’d rather ask “can I take that?” than wait to be handed something.
- Well Organised: a busy mailbox, a live scoping pipeline and a reporting deadline don’t faze you. You’re the person who never lets things slip through the cracks.
- A fast learner who loves feedback: you won’t know everything about bids on day one, and that’s fine. What matters is that you pick things up quickly, ask for input early and get visibly better every month.
- Deeply Inquisitive: you ask specific, well thought out questions because you genuinely want to understand how things work, not just complete the task in front of you.
- A clear writer with an eye for detail: you can draft cleanly and spot the typo everyone else missed. Any exposure to public sector bids, proposals or procurement is a bonus, not a requirement.
- A natural collaborator: you’re comfortable chasing busy salespeople for answers, running a meeting with people more senior than you, and building relationships across teams.
- Excited by the mission: you want your work to mean something, and the idea of helping frontline workers get hours of their week back genuinely motivates you.
Bonus points:
- You've worked on bids and proposals before (even more bonus points if this was in social care or healthcare).
- You have practical experience working in procurement within a public sector organisation.
- You’ve worked in a fast paced start up before.
Perks:
- Generous EMI-qualifying share options.
- Access to therapy, coaching, classes & content - powered by Oliva.
- Your own financial well-being coach, through Bippit.
- Generous Holiday - 25 days with 3 additional days over the Christmas period + bank holidays.
- Work remotely up to 6 weeks a year.
- Eligible for a 6-week sabbatical after 3 years in service.
- Nursery scheme through Gogeta.
- Healthcare cover through Benenden Health.
- Enhanced parental leave: Primary Caregiver leave 18 weeks and Secondary Caregiver leave 4 weeks.
