About the role
As the Finance Director, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimising our financial strategy and operations. You’ll work closely with Alex, Beam’s CEO and Founder to support strategic decision-making, financial planning, and reporting. This is a hands-on role with a focus on balancing our mission-driven goals with sustainable financial management. You will be an integral part of a dynamic team, contributing to the growth and impact of our organisation.
You’ll be
- Leading the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Managing the finance team, ensuring alignment with our company goals and objectives.
- Leading the company through its first year audit.
- Supporting fundraising efforts, engaging with investors, and presenting financial insights.

You’ll need
- A Strong Financial Background: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, along with a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience in a Leadership Role in a VC-backed Company: At least 5 years of experience in a senior finance position within the financial function of a venture or growth business, with significant management experience overseeing all or part of the finance team.
- Technical UK GAAP knowledge: Knowledge of financial risk management principles, experience with revenue recognition on recurring revenue models and pricing strategies.
- Deep Experience with FP&A: Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis, with the ability to drive strategic financial initiatives. Proficient with advanced financial and complex data modelling.
- Exposure to Fundraising: Ideally, experience from a combination of VCs and family offices, with a track record of successful fundraising efforts.
- Proficiency in Accounting Software and Tools: Advanced knowledge of financial management software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and tools like Excel.
