We are a 7 day a week service – successful candidates should be available to work across both weekdays and weekends. We are currently recruiting for full time staff to work on a home based programme in Hertford North, Hertfordshire. The ideal candidate should have experience in supporting individuals who may display behaviours of concern under an accredited and best‑practice framework. You will work as part of a team supporting a young adult with diagnoses of autism and learning disability in Hertford North with a focus on life skills and independence. We accept experienced graduates, professionals from other disciplines interested in ABA or PBS, and candidates who have previously worked in ABA or PBS settings.
BEAM ABA Services support individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex behavioural needs who display behaviour that challenges. You should be available to work 2‑3 waking nights per week (7PM‑8AM) and daytime sessions from 8AM‑7PM. You must be able to attend initial induction training and ongoing training during daytime hours at our London office and overlap daytime sessions in Hertford. We can offer visa sponsorship for candidates already living within the UK if you already work in the Health and Social Care sector or if you are currently on a Graduate or Student visa. We cannot sponsor overseas candidates at this time. All Beam staff must adhere to our Code of Conduct.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 2 years of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
- Experience supporting individuals who are non‑verbal, with alternative modes of communication
- Experience supporting individuals during periods of dysregulation, including episodes of behaviours of concern
- Experience supporting individuals on overnights in their own home and/or in a residential setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field
- 3 years of applied experience with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
- Registered Behaviour Technician or working towards it
- Experience using ABA methodology
Duties
- Assist in the implementation of person‑centred programmes utilising Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support best practice
- Support service users by teaching functional skills, developing communication systems, and enhancing social skills under a framework that provides choice and promotes empowerment
- Monitor and record accurate data daily as per service users' targets
- Provide support during times of crisis, such as behaviours of concern, using prescribed Behaviour Support Plan strategies and protocols
- Ensure all programme materials are organised and accessible
- Assist service users with self‑help skills including personal care and hygiene (e.g., toileting, nappy changing, feeding, bathing, nail cutting, medication)
- Model best practice and professionalism at all times
- Attend mandatory trainings, team meetings and self‑directed e‑learning modules
- Promote safeguarding and wellbeing for service users to the highest standard
- Implement restrictive techniques per service users' positive handling plan when required
- Provide flexibility to support service users during evenings and weekends
- Complete other duties as required by the manager

- Hourly rate of £12.82‑£14 depending on qualifications and experience; full‑time pay of £25,000‑£27,300 based on a 37.5‑hour week (overtime available)
