The Role
Reporting to the Commercial team, you'll play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for complex aerospace components and assemblies. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement and Key Account Managers, you'll help ensure competitive, commercially sound quotations that support business growth while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for aerospace components, assemblies and manufacturing projects.
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements to determine manufacturing methods and costs.
- Estimate Labour hours, material requirements, tooling costs and subcontract processes.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Procurement to obtain manufacturing costs and lead times.
- Review Bills of Materials (BOMs), assemblies and manufacturing routes to produce competitive quotations.
- Support bid and proposal submissions, ensuring quotations are completed accurately and on time.
- Work alongside Key Account Managers to develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability and customer value.
- Identify commercial risks, cost-saving opportunities and manufacturing improvements.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical costing information and pricing tools.
- Participate in customer discussions and support continuous improvement within the estimating process.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial awareness with a solid engineering background and enjoys working on technically challenging aerospace projects.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Estimating Engineer, Cost Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer within aerospace, defense, automotive or precision engineering.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal, composites or aerospace assembly.
- Knowledge of manufacturing cost estimation, Labour calculations and tooling requirements.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and CAD software.
- Understanding of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Syspro would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments and manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, composites and surface finishes.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
