The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and improving manufacturing processes for both new and existing aerospace products. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Commercial and Purchasing teams, you’ll support New Product Introduction (NPI), process planning, manufacturing methods and customer quotations, helping ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods, tooling and production processes for aerospace components.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring products transition efficiently into manufacture.
  • Produce and maintain manufacturing process documentation, including process planning sheets, Local Control Documents (LCDs) and Process Control Documents (PCDs).
  • Review and amend manufacturing methods and process plans to support engineering changes, customer requirements and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support to Production, resolving manufacturing issues and improving process efficiency.
  • Liaise with customers and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and support project delivery.
  • Work closely with Shop Floor Supervisors to ensure new products are introduced effectively.
  • Prepare manufacturing estimates and quotations, including labour hours, material costs and tooling requirements, to support customer RFQs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing performance, reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Keep up to date with new manufacturing technologies, equipment and industry best practice.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges and has a passion for improving manufacturing processes within an aerospace environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within aerospace, engineering or precision manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, metallic structures, welding, resistance welding and aerospace assembly.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process planning.
  • Experience preparing manufacturing estimates, labour calculations and customer quotations.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across Engineering, Production, Commercial and Purchasing teams.
  • Knowledge of composites and machine shop planning would be advantageous.
