Purpose: Manage and analyse financial performance within the business; produce accurate financial reports, providing insights on cost control, and assisting in financial decision-making processes; responsible for cost tracking on major capex projects; assist in the preparation of our annual budget.

The Management Accountant assists the Head of Finance in the management of the financial control environment, and the preparation and presentation of financial information to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Support the Head of Finance in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide commentary on key financial performance indicators to management.
  • Support the Head of Finance in the management and maintenance of the cost accounting system, including overheads, product costing, and margin analysis.
  • Work closely with other departments to monitor and control costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain and manage the actual vs budget analysis of major capex projects, in particular the £1.5m factory refurbishment project; report progress and variances to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports for stakeholders and support year-end audit processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business decision-making and planning.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the Head of Finance and senior management.
  • Assist with cash flow management, including reviewing working capital and cash flow forecasts.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes within the business.
Experience and Capabilities:
  • CCAB qualified or finalist preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management accountant role.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

  • Management accounts completed accurately and to agreed timescales.
  • Financial controls operate effectively, preventing any material loss by the business.
