We are working with a leading international law firm seeking a Planning Associate to join its highly regarded London real estate team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The team is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile development projects, including urban regeneration, infrastructure, life sciences, offshore wind and large-scale residential schemes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to cutting-edge work within a collaborative and well-resourced environment.
The Role
- You will advise on a broad range of planning matters, including:
- Negotiating section 106 agreements for large, multi-use developments
- Advising on infrastructure agreements and planning strategy
- Providing guidance on community infrastructure levy (CIL), heritage and environmental constraints
- Supporting on infrastructure and development projects
- Working closely with the real estate team on transactional support, including due diligence and drafting
Candidate Profile
- You will be a qualified planning lawyer (circa 3+ PQE) with:
- Strong experience advising on complex development projects
- A solid understanding of planning law principles, including CIL, listed buildings and compulsory purchase
- Experience negotiating s106 agreements, including affordable housing provisions
- Exposure to highways, infrastructure and development-related agreements
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong client relationships
- Experience of public inquiries, hearings, or development consent orders would be advantageous but is not essential.
