As a specialist legal recruiter, our client has asked us to recruit a commercial Legal Counsel (3–6 PQE). This role offers exposure to a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on consumer credit and financial services regulation.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide commercially focused legal advice and support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier, outsourcing, technology, SaaS, consultancy and partnership agreements.
  • Provide legal advice on consumer credit legislation and regulatory requirements, including FCA rules, CONC, Consumer Duty and wider financial services regulations.
  • Support the development, launch and ongoing management of financial products and services, identifying legal and regulatory risks and delivering practical solutions.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on commercial, legal and regulatory matters, ensuring business activities remain aligned with the organisation's risk framework and compliance obligations.
  • Assist with regulatory enquiries, customer complaints, disputes and investigations, managing relationships with external counsel where required.
  • Contribute to legal governance initiatives, including policy development, contract management processes, regulatory horizon scanning and the delivery of legal training across the business.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3–6 years' PQE.
  • Experience gained within a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to consumer credit matters.
  • Knowledge of FCA regulation, Consumer Duty and the UK regulatory landscape.
  • Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently while building effective relationships across a diverse business.
  • Willing and able to attend the Liverpool office three days per week.
