Description

The Company

Beacon is a business intelligence organisation that specialises in data and decision intelligence for the biopharma R&D community. Our data is considered best-in-class by the customers and markets we serve.

Beacon is experiencing rapid growth, both in terms of revenues and headcount, and, under new ownership, we have a clear ambition to continue scaling as a category-defining data and intelligence platform for biopharmaceutical R&D. It is an extremely exciting time to join if you are looking for accelerated personal development, commercial ownership and career progression.

The Team

The Beacon Sales team is responsible for selling subscriptions of our market-leading SaaS platform into the biopharmaceutical market. We believe that niche and deep, tailored product offerings that respond to the specific needs of scientific communities provide us with a clear point of differentiation versus generic data providers.

As such, we believe sales professionals are most effective when they can demonstrate a deep understanding of the industry, engage in peer-level conversations with clients and challenge the status quo. We place a huge focus on training, both in technical sales skill and in relevant product and sector knowledge.

The Role

We are looking for an Account Manager, New Business to deliver new business revenue through the acquisition of new customers and the growth of relevant whitespace opportunities across global markets.

This is a full-cycle sales role with ownership across prospecting, qualification, discovery, demonstration, proposal, negotiation and close. You will be expected to build a strong territory plan, create and progress high-quality pipeline, and position Beacon as a decision-grade intelligence platform for customers making complex R&D, competitive intelligence, business development and data-led decisions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Generating new business revenue through acquisition of new customers.
  • Developing opportunities through outbound activity, marketing campaigns, referrals and events.
  • Managing the full sales process from discovery through to contract signature.
  • Delivering compelling Beacon demonstrations and commercial proposals tailored to customer priorities.
  • Building relationships with multiple stakeholders across target organisations, including R&D, competitive intelligence, business development and data/AI teams.
  • Partnering with SDRs to penetrate target accounts and progress relevant whitespace opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline management, forecasting and CRM records.
  • Gathering customer and market feedback to strengthen Beacon’s commercial strategy.
  • Representing Beacon at customer meetings, conferences and industry events.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means consistently achieving annual new business revenue targets, maintaining healthy pipeline coverage, winning key new logos within target markets and growing revenue through relevant account whitespace opportunities. You will be commercially disciplined and confident in your ability to demonstrate strong control of your territory, pipeline and sales process.

The Person

We are looking for someone with proven B2B sales experience and a track record of delivering or exceeding targets in an end-to-end sales delivery role. You will ideally have experience selling SaaS, subscription, data or intelligence solutions, and experience selling into life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech or adjacent markets would be highly valuable.

You will be:

  • Strong at prospecting into enterprise B2B accounts and developing qualified pipeline.
  • Confident managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Skilled in discovery, demonstration, proposal development and negotiation.
  • Commercially disciplined, with strong forecasting and CRM hygiene.
  • Able to communicate credibly with senior stakeholders across life sciences, R&D, competitive intelligence, business development and data/AI functions.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growth environment with evolving processes and priorities.
  • Collaborative in approach, with the ability to work effectively with Marketing, Customer Success, Product and Research teams.
  • Highly motivated, resilient and driven to over-achieve.
  • Ambitious, coachable and eager to learn, while trusting in your own commercial judgement.

The person we have in mind will share our belief that sales ability is the number one business skill, that a great sales professional provides genuine business insight to prospects and clients, and that there is opportunity everywhere for people willing to learn, work hard and take ownership.

Our business growth is dependent on our ability to upskill and develop people's careers. We have a clear path that you will review and discuss with your line manager every quarter. Time is no restriction to the pace at which you can progress - if you can demonstrate the skill, we will move you quickly.

We are looking to bring in an Account Manager who can quickly build commercial confidence, develop strong life sciences sector knowledge and grow their career with us as Beacon continues to grow.

Remuneration

Competitive salary and compensation scheme.
