Beach Baker is delighted to be supporting a leading heritage and conservation-focused landowner in the search for an Estate Manager to join their London & Surrey portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a significant agricultural estate while helping to shape the future of some of the UK's most valued rural landscapes.

The role combines traditional estate management with ambitious environmental objectives, offering the chance to influence nature recovery, climate resilience and sustainable land management across a diverse property portfolio.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Estate Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of let agricultural properties and supporting the delivery of long-term land management objectives across London and Surrey.

Working closely with farm tenants, specialist advisers, property professionals and operational teams, you will provide expert advice on estate management matters while building strong relationships across a varied stakeholder network.

Key responsibilities include

  • Managing agricultural tenancies and wider land management interests across the portfolio.
  • Providing professional estate management and rural property advice.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance environmental, commercial and operational performance.
  • Leading investment projects across the farmed estate.
  • Supporting landscape-scale initiatives including habitat restoration, wetland creation, woodland management and Landscape Recovery projects.
  • Working collaboratively with tenants and specialist teams to deliver long-term conservation objectives.
  • Managing budgets, projects and stakeholder relationships across a diverse rural estate.
  • The Portfolio
  • The successful candidate will help oversee a substantial and varied estate including:
  • 15 farms and bare land lettings
  • 166 residential properties
  • 123 commercial leases
  • Approximately 2,000 hectares of let agricultural land
  • Nearly 6,000 hectares of land across London and Surrey
  • Extensive woodland, common land and environmentally designated sites

About You

We are keen to hear from experienced rural property professionals who combine strong technical knowledge with excellent relationship management skills.

You are likely to have

  • MRICS qualification
  • Strong knowledge of rural estate management, agriculture and land use.
  • Experience managing agricultural tenancies and rural assets.
  • An understanding of environmental management, conservation and sustainable development.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, budget management and project delivery experience.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to influence positive outcomes with tenants and partners.
