Rural Surveyor – Oxfordshire – Client-side
We’re currently working with a major landowner to recruit a Rural Surveyor to join their established Land & Estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a diverse portfolio across Oxfordshire, supporting both day-to-day estate management and longer-term strategic land use.
The Opportunity
This is a varied and rewarding role offering exposure to a broad range of rural estate work. You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and will play a key role in managing tenancies, advising on land use, and supporting initiatives that enhance both environmental outcomes and estate performance.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will span a wide range of rural surveying activities, including:
- Management of agricultural tenancies and commercial lettings
- Supporting agri-environment schemes and in-hand land
- Advising on woodland creation and management
- Handling access rights, boundary disputes, easements and wayleaves
- Working with commons, commoners and restrictive covenants
- Involvement in acquisitions and disposals where required
You’ll be expected to operate within established governance frameworks while delivering practical, high-quality advice and championing best practice.
About You
We’re looking for a motivated and commercially aware individual who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for land management and conservation. You will ideally have:
- Membership of RICS (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of rural land use, agriculture and estate management
- An understanding of environmental, conservation and sustainability issues
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with experience working within teams or projects
An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships with tenants and stakeholders will be key to success in this role.
Location & Working Pattern
- Covering West Oxfordshire and Thames Valley
- Hybrid working available, with 40–60% of time on site
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required (mileage claimable)
