Overview

Beach Baker are recruiting for a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor to join an Estate Management Team based in Cumbria. Your work will support the management of their diverse let estate and you’ll be providing technical advice and support on land and property management. You\’ll be passionate about conservation and combine this with strong technical knowledge and an entrepreneurial approach to rural surveying. Managing change in the rural landscape is a central focus and they will look to you for up to the minute advice and guidance.

What you\’ll be doing

You\’ll be involved in a wide range of work which is likely to include work on agricultural tenancies and agri-environmental schemes, residential and commercial lettings, woodland management, access rights and boundary issues, valuations and occasional acquisitions and disposals.

As part of the Estate Management team, you\’ll bring a range of skills to ensure they safeguard and manage their land and buildings to best deliver their objectives. You will build on the important relationships they have with their tenants and bring insightful advice and considerate stakeholder management as well as forward thinking approaches to managing and conserving their land and buildings.

The Candidate

We\’d love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • A good knowledge of land use, agriculture, asset management, land management, environmental issues, conservation and sustainable development
  • A member of the RICS (Rural Practice) – though we will consider applications from those qualifying this year
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate effectively both in person and in writing, enabling you to influence and negotiate
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and resolve rural surveying problems using technical knowledge to implement workable solutions
  • Strong demonstrable consulting skills of listening, building trust and acting to deliver a high quality service
  • The ability to work as part of a team to achieve the best results, demonstrating best practice and sharing ideas and thinking
