The Royal Household is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to work at Buckingham Palace with wider Estate oversight. The role offers a salary of circa £65,000 plus benefits, and is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week (5 days, primarily on-site).

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small team

- Oversee planned & reactive maintenance, condition surveys, and building pathology
- Manage a diverse portfolio of projects from inception to completion
- Develop best-practice approaches to repair, conservation, and maintenance of listed buildings

- Manage budgets, contracts, and procurement processes to ensure value for money
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, driving a culture of risk management
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and specialist teams across the estate
About You
You are an experienced and confident Building Surveyor who thrives in complex, high-profile environments. You should be a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS or equivalent) with proven experience leading teams and developing staff. A strong background in historic/listed buildings and occupied multi-site estates is essential, along with demonstrable experience delivering sustainable building strategies and Net Zero initiatives.
Expertise in statutory compliance, risk management, and contract management is required, as well as strong project management skills across a varied workload. Experience with CAFM systems and CAD tools, along with excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, is also necessary.
You will bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to make decisions and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
