The Opportunity

We are working with one of the UK’s most significant landowners to appoint an Estate Manager to support the management of a diverse rural portfolio across London and Surrey. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in shaping large-scale landholdings, combining commercial estate management with environmental ambition - delivering outcomes for nature recovery, sustainability, and long-term asset value. You will manage agricultural estates, lead key tenant relationships, and contribute to landscape-scale projects that balance commercial, environmental and social outcomes.

The Role

You will take responsibility for a varied and high-profile portfolio, including agricultural, residential and commercial property interests. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a comprehensive estate management service across let agricultural holdings, land and property assets
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for tenants, managing landlord & tenant matters including rent reviews, lease renewals and negotiations
  • Implementing estate management plans aligned with strategic objectives for nature, carbon and public access
  • Managing budgets, income streams and performance metrics across the estate
  • Supporting and delivering land use diversification, environmental schemes and development opportunities
  • Leading on dispute resolution and complex negotiations where required
  • Building strong partnerships with tenants, stakeholders, neighbours and external bodies
  • Contributing to landscape-scale initiatives such as habitat restoration, environmental stewardship and sustainability programme

The portfolio spans a wide range of assets including farms, woodland, residential lettings, commercial leases and designated landscapes, offering real diversity and impact.

About You

We are looking for a commercially aware and forward-thinking rural surveyor with:

  • MRICS qualification (rural pathway – essential)
  • Significant post-qualified experience in estate management/rural surveying
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Land use and agriculture
    • Estate and asset management
    • Environmental and sustainability issues
  • Proven ability to manage complex estates and deliver practical solutions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with tenants and stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and manage budgets effectively
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with the ability to influence across multi-disciplinary teams
