An established and highly respected forestry consultancy is seeking an experienced Forest Manager to oversee an existing portfolio of commercial forests and estate woodlands while supporting the continued growth of its forestry and woodland creation services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a forestry professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and enjoys building long-term client relationships. You'll manage a varied portfolio of woodland assets, deliver practical management solutions, and play a key role in identifying and developing new opportunities for woodland creation and forestry investment.
The Role
Working as part of a professional and collaborative management team, you will take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality forest management services across a range of private estates, commercial forestry holdings and rural properties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of client forests and estate woodlands
- Preparing and implementing forest management plans
- Developing new woodland creation opportunities and supporting business growth
- Budget preparation and financial management
- Planning, procuring and supervising forestry operations
- Contract management and contractor supervision
- Preparing grant and funding applications
- Ensuring compliance with forestry legislation and industry best practice
- Managing health and safety across forestry operations
- Utilising GIS and digital mapping tools to support project delivery
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders
About You
You will be an experienced forestry professional with a solid understanding of modern forestry management and woodland establishment.
You'll likely bring:
- Proven experience in forest management and woodland creation
- Strong technical forestry knowledge and understanding of current industry issues
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of business management principles
- Knowledge of relevant forestry legislation, grants and environmental policy
- Experience managing budgets, contracts and operational programmes
- Good GIS and IT skills
- Excellent communication and client relationship abilities
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a wider team
