A leading and well-established property consultancy is seeking a Chartered Rural Surveyor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a highly regarded and progressive rural estate, offering a genuinely varied workload and the chance to make a meaningful impact within the agricultural sector.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing a substantial rural estate of approximately 9,500 acres, comprising a diverse portfolio of tenanted farms. This is a hands-on position offering a balance of estate management, tenant engagement and strategic project work.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day management of a rural estate and tenant liaison
  • Conducting regular farm inspections and building strong working relationships
  • Supporting lettings, rent reviews and lease negotiations
  • Overseeing and progressing maintenance and improvement works
  • Contributing to environmental and biodiversity initiatives
  • Supporting land acquisition and infrastructure projects, including compulsory purchase schemes

This role provides an opportunity to work with a forward-thinking estate that is actively evolving in response to industry and environmental drivers.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and commercially aware Rural Surveyor with strong technical knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills.

Key requirements:

  • MRICS or FRICS qualified (desirable)
  • RICS Registered Valuer (desirable but preferred)
  • FAAV (advantageous)
  • Strong background in rural estate management (public or private sector)
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, including:
    • Agricultural Holdings Act 1986
    • Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995
    • Landlord and Tenant Act 1954
  • Degree in Rural Estate Management or similar (or equivalent experience)

Skills & attributes:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with tenants and clients
  • Proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
  • Interest in rural development and supporting new entrants to farming
