Planning & Development Surveyor
Northumberland | Full Time | 37 Hours per Week
Beach Baker is delighted to be supporting a highly respected multidisciplinary property consultancy in the search for a Planner / Planning & Development Consultant to join its growing team in Morpeth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning, development or rural property professional to join an established North East team and work on a diverse range of projects across Northumberland and the wider region. The role offers exposure to strategic land, rural property, development opportunities and planning consultancy work, whilst providing a platform to develop technical expertise, grow client relationships and contribute to the expansion of an ambitious professional services team.
The Opportunity
Working alongside experienced planning, rural and property professionals, you will support clients on a wide range of planning and development matters, from initial site appraisals through to successful planning outcomes. The role combines technical planning work with client-facing responsibilities and commercial project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning applications, development appraisals, prior approvals, pre-application enquiries and planning strategies.
- Review planning policy, site constraints, technical reports, plans and development opportunities.
- Liaise with local planning authorities, consultants, architects and other professional advisers.
- Support developer, promoter and landowner engagement, including strategic land opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities and professional contacts.
- Prepare reports, fee proposals, professional correspondence and client advice.
- Manage instructions effectively, including budgets, deadlines, client updates and file management.
- Help identify new business opportunities and support wider business development activity across the region.
About You
Applications are welcomed from candidates who are MRICS, RTPI qualified or possess equivalent relevant experience within planning, development, rural property, land agency or consultancy.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple instructions, deadlines and client expectations.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of land and property value drivers.
- Confidence working with clients, consultants, local authorities and professional contacts.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience with mapping, CAD, layouts or design-led feasibility work would be advantageous, as would previous exposure to strategic land, rural diversification, development appraisal or planning submissions.
Working Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 9.00am to 5.30pm
- Friday: 9.00am to 5.00pm
- 37 hours per week
