We're working with a leading organisation based in Glasgow to recruit an experienced AI Solution Architect to join their growing technology team. This is a pivotal role for someone who wants to shape the future of AI-powered products - bridging cutting-edge research with production-grade engineering.

The Role

As AI Solution Architect, you'll lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure LLM-powered solutions from prototype through to production. You'll set technical direction, define best practices, mentor developers, and work cross-functionally with Product, Data, Ops, IT Governance and Cyber Security teams to identify where AI can deliver real business value. This isn't a hands-off architecture role - you'll be deep in the code, using AI coding assistants like Claude Code as part of your daily workflow, while also owning quality, reliability, observability and performance across AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure, scalable Generative AI and LLM-powered applications
  • Lead architecture and end-to-end development of AI solutions
  • Define technical standards, engineering roadmaps and best practices for AI initiatives
  • Collaborate with Product to identify and shape candidate AI use cases
  • Ensure AI solutions are secure by design and data is handled responsibly and ethically
  • Evaluate and select AI frameworks, LLM providers, vector databases and cloud infrastructure
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to the development team
  • Stay current with advancements in AI and help shape the organisation's AI journey
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • 5+ years in a software development role
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLMs
  • Strong knowledge of RAG, prompt engineering and evaluation techniques
  • AI infrastructure experience - vector stores, embeddings, model serving
  • AI agent frameworks and orchestration
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, React and/or Node.js
  • Microsoft .NET stack, SQL Server, NoSQL (e.g. Cosmos DB)
  • REST API design, clean architecture and design patterns
  • GIT, Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines and IaaC
  • Secure AI solution design and responsible AI principles

Desirable:

  • Degree level qualification
  • Experience with agentic tooling
  • Background in domain-driven design or event-driven systems
  • Knowledge of the Facilities Management domain

What Kind of Person Thrives Here?

You're proactive, outcome-focused and equally comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative team. You care about code quality, you mentor others naturally, and you bring a pragmatic, flexible approach to solving complex problems. You take ownership - of your work, your deadlines, and the standards of the team around you.

Interested? If you're ready to take a lead role in shaping how AI is built and deployed at scale, we'd love to hear from you.

How to prepare for a job interview at Be

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Be uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
