Your role:
As a Caretaker you will contribute to the provision of the Economic Development Service across the borough and the general cleanliness of the borough’s Markets. You will carry out general cleaning of buildings and open spaces both manually and using machinery. You will also carry out minor repairs and maintenance to Market equipment and will assist in general upkeep of the Markets. You will assist with the security of the market sites and have key holding responsibilities. You will be involved in events that take place in the markets and town centres.
About you:
You will have knowledge, experience and the ability to carry out general building and open space cleaning and basic maintenance. You will have experience of using cleaning machinery including scrubber/dryers, waste compactors and balers. You will be available to work weekends and be flexible in terms of shift patterns as the service dictates. You will work 5 days per week from Monday to Saturday with a day off in the week. You will be able to work well both independently and as part of a team in a flexible manner in order to meet deadlines and service demands. It is also important that you have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with both colleagues and members of the public. You must also be able to apply health and safety knowledge within the workplace and be well organised. You may be asked to cover at other Market sites for the needs of the service.
