We're supporting a financial-services client to hire a Consultant to lead Target Operating Model (TOM) design and delivery across Payment Investigations. The remit spans cross-border/multi-currency payments, SWIFT/interbank flows, and end-to-end exception management (flags, fails, returns, disputes).
What you'll lead
- Own the TOM design for Payment Investigations (people, process, data, tech, controls, governance), from current-state assessment through to design, roadmap and implementation.
- Stand-up pragmatic Ways of Working (WoW) and governance (RACI, KPIs/SLAs, risk & control library, playbooks).
- Drive root-cause analysis on payment failures/alerts; translate insights into preventative controls and process changes that increase STP and reduce operational friction.
- Coordinate delivery across Ops, Product/Tech, Treasury, Compliance and external counterparties using SWIFT / interbank case flows.
- Build the business case & benefits model; track adoption and outcomes through go-live and stabilisation.
What you'll bring
- Management consulting background (e.g., Manager/Senior Manager) with demonstrable TOM leadership in banking/fintech operations.
- Deep understanding of cross-border payments, correspondent banking, and SWIFT (MT/MX) messages; hands-on with investigations and dispute/exception workflows.
- Strong change toolkit: operating-model design, process re-engineering, controls, and delivery governance.
- Clear, concise stakeholder communication up to senior execs and with external banks/service providers.
- Helpful: practical data expertise (Excel/SQL/Power Query/VBA) for rapid analysis and KPI build-out.
Why this assignment
A high-impact brief to shape how Payment Investigations operates at scale — designing the model, proving it in delivery, and leaving a measurable legacy of improved control, speed and customer outcomes.
