We have a fantastic opportunity for a management consultant with a passion for ESG and sustainability to join our rapidly expanding management consultancy. This will be an initial contract position of four months, and we are aiming for a February start.

We are looking for a qualified accountant and experienced finance transformation consultant with ESG reporting experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting clients through their annual sustainability reporting process, technical analysis, and implementation of ESG-compliant solutions.

You will be involved in the following activities:

  • Conducting ISSB formal materiality exercises – performing, documenting, and assessing compliance with existing ISSB guidance.
  • Updating the ISSB technical gap analysis for the group and drafting technical policies.
  • Establishing an Interpretation Committee-equivalent forum for technical interpretations, including drafting initial technical papers to support decision-making.
  • Supporting liaison with technical audit teams.
  • Creating a technical checklist of requirements (including TCFD, CFD, ISSB, HKEX, and Companies Act specifics), and contributing to the first draft of ARA25.
  • Assisting in review and response to key technical consultations (expected in Q2 or already in progress) – including:
  • Basel Committee revised Pillar 3 ESG
  • ISSB GHG disclosure amendments
  • EFRAG ESRS/CSRD content simplification
  • Supporting country-level technical ISSB adoption reviews and gap analyses (currently ~29 countries expected).
  • Focus Areas in Our ESG and Climate CFO Advisory Practice:

    • ESG/Sustainability change: Performing ESG readiness assessments, identifying compliance gaps, and recommending remediation steps.
    • Regulatory change: Interpreting new regulatory frameworks and supporting clients in adapting their operating models.
    • Framework development: Designing bespoke ESG reporting frameworks.
    • ESG gap assessments: Identifying and closing gaps in clients’ ESG frameworks; developing strategies and implementing corrective actions.
    • Industry research and benchmarking: Conducting market research and benchmarking against peers to identify best-in-class practices.
    • Target Operating Models: Designing and implementing TOMs for sustainability functions, incorporating digital innovation, location strategy, organisational design, risk-finance alignment, workforce transformation, and more.
    • Training: Delivering tailored training to C-suite and board-level clients as well as internal teams, backed by robust internal and external development programs.

The successful candidate will have a finance consulting background within financial services and hold an accounting qualification. Additional experience should include:

    • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks such as TCFD, TNFD, ISSB, EFRAG, and SEC.
    • Experience in financial reporting, banking audit, or sustainability limited assurance.
    • Demonstrated capability in delivering financial reporting projects.
    • Background in banking or insurance, either through consulting or in-house change roles.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different seniority levels and stakeholders.
    • Proven client-facing experience or strong internal stakeholder engagement.
    • Experience in developing consulting propositions or involvement in commercial development.
    • Solid programme and project management skills with a clear understanding of the project lifecycle.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Relevant professional certifications in sustainability and climate risk.
