Join our team as a Technical Officer We're looking for a knowledgeable and customer-focused Technical Officer to join our Damp and Condensation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving our homes, helping to ensure customers live in safe, high-quality properties that meet or exceed the Decent Homes Standard. Working alongside Building Surveyors, contractors and customers, you'll support the delivery of repairs, refurbishment works and investment projects across our housing stock. As a Technical Officer, you'll undertake property inspections, prepare specifications and estimates, support contract delivery and help ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Undertake property and site inspections to assess repairs, disrepair and refurbishment requirements. Support the delivery of repairs, maintenance and improvement works across our housing stock. Prepare schedules of work, specifications, estimates and quotations for projects and repairs. Carry out pre-start, work-in-progress and post-completion inspections to monitor quality and ensure works are completed to the required standard. Support Building Surveyors with contract management activities to help deliver projects on time and within budget. Work collaboratively with customers, contractors and internal teams to achieve positive outcomes and high levels of customer satisfaction. Support compliance with health and safety requirements, including CDM regulations and risk assessments. Contribute to the ongoing improvement and sustainability of our housing stock. Demonstrate knowledge and practical application of damp and mould diagnostics, remediation principles, and the legal framework associated with Awaabs Law, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and the timely management of health and safety risks within residential properties. What you'll need to succeed A relevant technical qualification such as HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Construction or equivalent. Experience in property inspections, repairs and refurbishment within a housing or construction environment. Knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant housing legislation. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including construction safety requirements. Good digital skills, including Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive. A full, clean UK driving licence. Desirable Previous experience in a social housing or public sector environment. Technical training or qualifications in areas such as CDM, asbestos, fire safety or HHSRS. Experience of on-site health and safety auditing. Experience producing CAD drawings, estimates and contract documentation.
