We are looking for a People Advisor to provide practical, values-led advice and support across a wide range of people matters. You will work closely with managers and colleagues to resolve issues fairly, improve confidence in people management, and support a positive, inclusive workplace. This role suits someone who enjoys supporting others, bringing clarity to complex situations, and helping managers do the right thing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, timely advice to managers and colleagues on employee relations matters such as absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, family leave and wellbeing
  • Manage a varied people case load, ensuring cases are handled consistently, sensitively and in line with policies and employment law
  • Support and attend formal meetings, including disciplinary and grievance hearings, acting as a People representative where required
  • Contribute to recruitment and workforce processes, including job evaluations, job profiles and recruitment shortlisting support
  • Maintain accurate people data, reports and records, ensuring high data quality and meeting reporting and payroll deadlines
  • Support people projects, policy reviews and initiatives that improve inclusion, fairness and ways of working
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in decision-making, language and everyday practice

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience advising managers on employee relations issues, including absence, performance, disciplinaries and grievances
  • A good working knowledge of UK employment law and how to apply it in a practical, proportionate way
  • Experience of managing people casework and balancing deadlines in a busy environment
  • Confidence communicating clearly and calmly, including handling sensitive or difficult conversations
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and keep accurate records
  • A values-led approach, with a commitment to inclusion, fairness and supporting wellbeing
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards), or equivalent practical experience
