Software Engineers Java Back End or Full Stack (Java/React) £70,000 - £100,000 + strong bonus. This is a chance to join a Glasgow based engineering team inside a high performing Fintech business where technology is taken seriously, engineers have huge impact, and good ideas do not sit around for months waiting on permission. The work is live & important and used properly by the people it is built for.

If you join this team, you’ll be stepping into a Glasgow office that has grown in importance over time. The engineering work here has real visibility across the business, so you are far more likely to feel the value of what you’re doing. It is also the kind of environment where you can keep developing without needing to move elsewhere to find the better roles.

They are hiring for a few different profiles under the same wider opportunity:

  • Full stack engineers: You might be a true full stack developer, or someone who leans one way but is still comfortable working across the stack. Java and React are both relevant here. The key thing is that you like solving complex problems and building software end to end.
  • Front end leaning engineers: You enjoy building clean, responsive products and care about usability as much as technical quality. You’ve likely worked on dashboards, workflow tools, or other data-heavy applications and you are happy working closely with users and the wider engineering team to make the product better.
  • Back end Java engineers: You are strongest in Java and prefer working on services, architecture, system design, integrations, and performance. You like building solid software that stands up well under pressure and performs at scale.

The work itself is varied. User-facing tools, core services, workflow software, integrations, and business-critical systems all sit within the mix. You’ll be building alongside strong engineers in an environment where your work can have a visible impact quickly. The wider stack includes Java, React, TypeScript, Kafka, APIs, SQL, and modern cloud-based tooling. Experience in financial services or other data-rich environments can help, but it is not essential. What matters more is that you are a good engineer, comfortable with complexity, and interested in building software that people actually rely on.

How to prepare for a job interview at Be-IT

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Be-IT uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
