Are you an experienced Mainframe developer looking for a new engagement, either contract or permanent? I am partnering with a financial services client in Scotland who are looking for experienced Mainframe Developers to help maintain and develop critical business systems.
You will work primarily with legacy technologies such as ICL COBOL, the VME operating system, and the IDMS(X) database. You will be responsible for writing and updating programs, managing data structures, and supporting transaction processing systems using TPMS. Additionally, you will use SCL scripting for system automation and ALTADATA tools to ensure the smooth operation of applications.
- Strong skills in ICL COBOL programming.
- Good knowledge of the VME environment.
- Experience working with IDMS(X) databases.
- Essential experience with TPMS transaction processing.
- Comfortable using SCL for scripting.
- Ability to use DDS to define data structures.
- Familiarity with ALTADATA tools is a plus.
This is a UK based remote first engagement with travel once a quarter to Scotland for project planning sessions. You must be based in the UK to be considered for this engagement and must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
