Duties of the MongoDB Engineer will include:

  • Engineer, maintain, and optimise core infrastructure platforms supporting applications and data systems.
  • Apply software engineering practices—including automation, reproducible configurations, and scripting—to strengthen system reliability and performance.
  • Monitor system health, proactively identify issues, and resolve incidents to reduce disruption and minimise mean time to recovery.
  • Implement secure configurations and contribute to controls that safeguard systems from vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Develop automated processes (Ansible, CI/CD, scripting) to reduce manual effort and uplift operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers to design solutions aligned with business outcomes.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in infrastructure engineering, automation, databases, and reliability practices, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

To be successful in progressing with the MongoDB Engineer, your experience should include:

  • Advanced working knowledge of MongoDB in enterprise environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Ansible for database or server configuration management.
  • Exposure to DevOps tooling ie. Git, JIRA, and database‑focused CI/CD processes.
  • Experience promoting or coaching Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices across teams or large organisations.
  • Desirable to have practical experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Desirable to have scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and migration work.
  • Desirable to understanding of risk, controls, change management, and operational governance in complex environments.
  • Highly desirable to prior team leading skills or structured workstreams, setting clear objectives and coaching others to deliver against them.
