We're looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a large, dynamic digital team based in Glasgow. This is a hybrid role splitting your time between home and the office - 2 days in the office.
The Role
You'll act as a senior technical authority across enterprise and hybrid network services - combining hands-on engineering with responsibility for standards, governance, risk management, and continuous improvement. You'll design, deliver and assure secure, resilient network infrastructure, and mentor the wider engineering team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Network & Security Architecture
- Design and assure complex enterprise network and security architectures using Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiSASE)
- Embed Zero Trust and SASE principles into all network solutions
- Define and maintain standards, reference architectures and configuration baselines
- Network Operations
- Ensure availability, performance, resilience and security of enterprise network services
- Act as escalation point for complex incidents, leading root cause analysis and permanent remediation
- Drive continual improvement across network operations
- Hybrid & Cloud Connectivity
- Design and support hybrid connectivity between on-premises data centres and Microsoft Azure (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, VPN)
- Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to integrate consistent security controls
- Enterprise Networking
- Design, support and optimise enterprise LAN, WAN, campus and data centre networks using Cisco and Fortinet technologies
- Lead technical evaluation and introduction of new networking capabilities
- Governance & Assurance
- Ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements and audit expectations
- Contribute to risk assessments, TDA reviews and formal change governance
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams and asset records
Essential Skills
- Fortinet platforms: FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiSASE
- Microsoft Azure networking including ExpressRoute, site-to-site and remote access VPN
- Cisco switching and routing; LAN, WAN and data centre networking
- Strong operational disciplines: incident, problem, change and capacity management

- Formal governance and risk management framework experience
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
