Be-IT's client is looking for a Digital Designer to join them on a contract basis to support a refresh of their digital touchpoints. You will lead design across three connected workstreams: a redesign of selected sections of their website, a refresh of their Mailchimp email templates, and an extension and tidy-up of their existing Figma design system.

This is a design-only engagement - no Front End build is required. Finished work will be handed off to in-house developers and delivery partners. The role is well suited to a designer who is equally comfortable across web UI, email, and design systems, and who enjoys taking ownership of a workstream from kick-off through to handoff.

What you'll Be Doing

  • Redesigning selected sections of an Umbraco-based website with a focus on improved visual hierarchy, brand colour application, and a review of existing components and themes - mobile-first throughout, delivered in Figma ready for developer handoff.
  • Refreshing Mailchimp email templates, starting with a specific named campaign and extending to a wider template tidy-up. Ideally implementing changes directly in Mailchimp; at minimum producing finished designs for a third party to apply.
  • Extending and tidying the existing Figma component library - auditing for gaps, extending the component set, improving naming and organisation, and ensuring the library is developer-ready.
  • Ensuring brand consistency across imagery, iconography, and typography across all three workstreams.
  • Working closely with the internal project team, in-house developers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, present design rationale, and support smooth handoffs.
  • Owning each workstream end-to-end and delivering against agreed milestones.

What We're Looking For

  • Design
  • Proven UI/digital design experience with a strong portfolio of web and email work.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma, including component and design system creation.
  • Experience designing for Mailchimp or equivalent email marketing platforms.
  • Mobile-first design approach with demonstrable experience designing for predominantly mobile audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and typographic sensibility.
  • Brand & Systems Thinking
    • Ability to work within an established brand framework, with a strong eye for consistent imagery and iconography across digital touchpoints.
    • Experience building or extending design systems intended for developer consumption.
    • Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards is advantageous.
  • Ways of Working
    • AI literacy - comfortable using AI tools to support and accelerate design workflows.
    • Clear communication and the ability to present design rationale to non-designers.
    • Comfortable working independently and managing delivery against agreed milestones.

    Nice to Have

    • Previous work in financial services, credit unions, or similarly trust-focused sectors.
    • Familiarity with Umbraco or similar CMS platforms from a design perspective.
    • Ability to suggest UX copy improvements alongside design work.
    • Pragmatic approach - comfortable reviewing what already exists and recommending improvements rather than starting from scratch.

    The Engagement

    • Freelance/contract, project-based across three workstreams which may be delivered sequentially or in parallel depending on your approach and capacity.
    • Glasgow-based preferred, with hybrid working. Some in-person collaboration is expected - particularly at the start of each workstream - but the majority of the work can be carried out remotely.
    • Appropriate Mailchimp and Figma access will be provided for the duration of the engagement.
