This well established, global market leading manufacturer of capital equipment into the waste and recycling sector, is recruiting for an ambitious and driven Area Sales Manager to join their expanding team. Covering the London and South East area you will join an established team servicing and developing major clients across varying industries including waste, recycling, retail and distribution.
Working closely with the Sales Director and other departments, you will be developing the sales of baler and waste compactor solutions across the London & South East region driving the hunt for new business. The company has an enviable reputation, and you'll become part of a profitable and secure manufacturer which has been established over 45 years.

THE OPPORTUNITY
In this new role, the Area Sales Manager will plan and carry out direct marketing and sales activities, so as to maintain and develop sales of the machinery range to UK major accounts and specifiers, in accordance with agreed business plans.
Competencies:
- Maintain and develop a computerised customer and prospect database.
- Plan and carry out direct marketing activities (principally direct mail) to agreed budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales.
- Develop ideas and create offers for direct mail and marketing to major accounts by main market sector and client products.
- Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by post, telephone, and personal visits.
- Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal order-processing staff.
- Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.
- Carry out market research, competitor and customer surveys.
- Maintain and report on equipment and software suitability for direct marketing and sales reporting purposes.
- Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, and quality management both on internal and external customer sites.
- Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
THE PERSON
The successful Area Sales Manager will undoubtedly be a self-starter with the desire to take ownership of this key role.
You will also demonstrate competencies by reference to relevant experience gained in the manufacturing and waste industries. Experience in capital equipment sales to the waste and recycling sector is an advantage.
