BDS Recruitment are working with a London based housing association to recruit a Solicitor on an initial 6 month basis.

This role offers a hybrid approach and rates start at £65 per hour Umbrella

Duties

  • Provide expert legal advice, guidance, and case support on all housing disrepair matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, cost-effective resolution of disputes, and excellent outcomes for residents
  • Review cases, advising on strengths, risks, quantum, and settlement terms, ensuring alignment with policy and legal requirements.
  • Lead on the development and dissemination of best practice in disrepair case management
  • Support and guide caseworkers to ensure procedural compliance, cost-effectiveness, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and case law affecting housing disrepair, and brief the business accordingly.

Criteria

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with current practising certificate (England & Wales).
  • In-depth knowledge of housing disrepair legislation, relevant case law, and pre-action protocol.
  • Experience advising on housing management matters, including disrepair, ASB, tenancy breach, rent recovery, and succession.
  • Proven track record of resolving disrepair claims cost-effectively, including negotiation and litigation
