Role Profile: Environmental Compliance Consultant Rate: £500 per day Contract Type: circa 6 months Start Date: As soon as available Overview BDS are recruting on behalf of one of the countries leading waste recovery providers who are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Consultant to provide dedicated support during a period of key regulatory activity. This assignment is focused on maintaining and strengthening compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and internal standards. This role is ideal for a pragmatic, detail-focused environmental professional with experience working in regulated sectors such as waste, energy or process industries. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our environmental responsibilities are met, audits are supported, and site teams are guided towards best practice. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with environmental permits, consents and site licence conditions Act as a point of contact for the Environment Agency and support site engagement with other regulatory bodies Review and maintain environmental monitoring systems, analyse trends, and flag risks or non-conformances Coordinate and support delivery of site-based environmental reporting Maintain and improve site documentation and records aligned with the Integrated Management System Support preparations for regulatory inspections and audits, ensuring documentation and processes are compliant and audit-ready Work with the site team to identify opportunities for improvement in environmental performance Criteria NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent relevant qualification Strong working knowledge of UK environmental regulation, ideally within waste, energy-from-waste, or heavy industrial settings Experience with EA inspections, environmental reporting and permit compliance Familiarity with environmental monitoring systems (e.g. SCADA, CEMS) and documentation platforms (e.g. SharePoint) Clear, confident communication skills – particularly in liaising with regulators and translating compliance into action Please apply now for immediate consideration or call Vickie or Tom to discuss further
