Scope
Responsible for supporting the Head of Department (HoD) / CHB Compliance Lead to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, AEO and internal policies. Working with CHB management to ensure that Customs activity performed by all departments is to the standard for BDP UK AEO accreditation.
Essential Functions of Department
- Knowledge of international tariff coding and classification procedure.
- Organise, create and update SOP’s relating to AEO requirements.
- Keep updated and informed on changes to regulatory legislations and communicate clearly with the CHB Compliance team.
- Support customer customs compliance, whilst ensuring that in providing this service the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Support and advise internal departments on all international import/export requirements especially with any new UK processes.
- Support HoD / Compliance Lead on new authorisation applications and maintenance.
- Complete Monthly File Audits to comply with AEO accreditation.
- Maintain POA database and ensure all documentation adheres to HMRC requirements.
Other Responsibilities
- Escalate issues to Management and assist with resolution.
- Contribute to customer and internal meetings when required.
- Successfully complete training courses, on or off site, which the company deems necessary for the role.
Authorities
- Authorised to perform responsibilities autonomously, using initiative to elevate any material impact to the business, as appropriate.
- Identify any opportunities for improvements in overall service quality and business safety.
Job Requirements
- BS/BA degree is not required but highly preferred.
- Prefer at least 2 years of experience handling import trafficking functions with a freight forwarder/broker.
- Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
- One to three years of experience in customer service duties.
- Ability to handle confidential information frequently and appropriately.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced office.
- Good communication, attention to detail and organisational skills required.
- Candidate must possess a strong teamwork attitude.
- Leadership experience is strongly desired.
- Candidate must be PC literate.
- Entry write & break bulk experience a plus.
