Responsible for day-to-day processing of customs entries ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations and AEO.
Ensuring timely and accurate Customs Clearance of shipments, within department KPIs.
Confidently discuss and resolve issues with customers and Customs Officers.
Essential Functions
- Ensure smooth and timely customs process flow
- Understand all elements of the import and export customs process
- Processing Ocean/Road/Air Import and Export customs entries
- Ensure accurate and timely data into our customs software system
- Verify documents received for import & export customs purposes are compliant and correct
- Ensure correct preference is applied to goods if applicable and that any relevant customs procedures and regimes such as IPR, OPR and CFSP are applied where necessary.
- Complete CVED and arrange for payment to be sent to Port Health where necessary
- Manage any Route 1, Route 3 or declaration release issues
- Liaise with customers regarding valuation, classification and preference issues where necessary taking into account AEO regulations
- Meet customs compliance targets, ongoing
- Escalate any challenges to CHB Senior team, when necessary
Other Responsibilities
- Assisting customers with CDS Cash Payments to HMRC where necessary
- Keep up to date on changes to regulatory environment
Authorities
- Authorised to perform responsibilities autonomously, using initiative to escalate any material impact to the business, as appropriate.
- Identify any opportunities for improvements in overall service quality and business safety.
