About BDO
We’re BDO, a leading accountancy and business advisory firm that provides advice and solutions for entrepreneurial organisations navigating today’s changing world.

The role
BDO’s Tax Accounting Group is a national team that brings together tax professionals specializing in tax accounting and audit work. Headed by an equity partner, this role offers an exciting and high‑quality career path for ambitious professionals.

As an Assistant Manager on this team, you will have exposure to our largest, highest‑profile audits across a range of groups and sectors. You will also assist with complex tax reporting for non‑audit clients, including preparing tax consolidations and the tax accounting aspects of GAAP conversions, carve‑out accounting and acquisition accounting. Our clients include FTSE and AIM listed groups, large inbounds and private‑equity backed businesses.

You will work closely with more senior professionals who specialise in this area and benefit from on‑the‑job coaching to build up your expertise in this space. Because we don’t use compliance centres or centres of excellence you will work directly with clients and our technical experts in this area and be exposed to a variety of tax and tax accounting issues.

You will have a portfolio of audit clients across a number of sectors, and over time, be responsible for training more junior members of the team. You will liaise and build relationships with primary audit teams and develop project management skills to ensure required deliverables are provided on time.

Applications are encouraged from newly/recently qualified auditors with an interest in moving into tax, or from people who have qualified in tax and want to specialise in tax reporting and the audit of tax.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Has a minimum of three years audit and/or tax experience with a Big Four or mid‑tier firm.
  • ACA and/or CTA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Has developed project management skills and is able to manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Has experience of coaching more junior staff.
  • Has experience of dealing with clients directly.

Rewards & Benefits

  • Health and Wellness Programmes: We promote a positive working environment where our people can thrive.
  • Pension Plan: A Group Personal Pension Plan, with matched employer contributions.
  • Private Medical: Access to private medical treatment for you and your family.
  • Income Protection Plan: Provides a proportion of your basic salary if you suffer a loss of earnings because of illness or injury.
  • Holidays: Our holiday benefit enables you to purchase up to 10 days of additional leave.
  • Bike to work scheme: A convenient, environmentally friendly and tax‑effective way to acquire a bike for travelling to and from work.
