BDO is an international accountancy and business advisory firm. We provide advisory services and solutions to client organisations across a wide range of industries. We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our fullâtime team for a 12âmonth fixedâterm contract based in London.
Responsibilities
- Provide commercial advice and guidance to HR, People Managers and business stakeholders, including Partners, on sensitive matters related to employee relations such as disciplinary, grievance, discrimination, contractual matters, restructuring, conflict resolution, capability, settlement agreements, policy interpretation and other ER matters presenting risk to the firm.
- Dayâtoâday team management, development and coaching of an ER Advisor and Assistant ER Manager.
- Act as first point of escalation for the ER team on advice, appeals and complex ER matters, with support of the Senior ER Manager where required.
- Maintain current knowledge of employment law, firm policies and practices to manage ER cases from advice, investigation, support at meetings, documentation through to providing commercial recommendations and solutions, balancing risk to the business.
- Lead ongoing development and refinement of HR policies, ensuring consistency of approach and compliance with current employment legislation.
- Communicate with stakeholders to update on forthcoming legislation and new policy, including delivering training and upskilling for the HR team.
- Support the Senior ER Manager on projects such as development, communication and implementation of new programs or initiatives affecting employee relations.
- Manage response to Data Subject Access Requests, coordinating and collating materials and liaising with Risk and other business areas.
- Produce data and analytics for the ER team to identify strategic and commercial trends and make recommendations to the Senior ER Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience in a role focused on employee relations, case management and policy, with strong employment law knowledge.
- Senior manager / lineâmanagement experience overseeing a small team.
- Stakeholder management experience influencing up to partner level.
- Ability to present complex issues in a userâfriendly format and support processes & procedures.
- Coaching and developing HR and business stakeholders on ER matters.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive reviews of policies, practices and terms & conditions and implement solutions.
- Strong written communication skills for senior stakeholder documentation and recommendations.
- Proficiency with caseâmanagement systems and ability to work in a fastâpaced, challenging environment.
