The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
This role will provide VAT advisory services to a wide range of organisations. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients including being involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis, whilst ensuring the Firm’s quality and risk standards are met. The role will be supported by the VAT Director and VAT Partner.
Responsibilities
- Provide VAT advisory services with some compliance element to a wide range of clients, getting involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.
- Ensure the Firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to as appropriate, and the Firm’s professional standards are met.
- Highlight risk, quality control and technical matters to the Partner / Director, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
- Develop professional relationships with clients and within the Firm, adapting the approach for the relevant audience.
- Take ownership and manage a portfolio of clients including client take on and engagement; billings and recovery rates; and debt management.
- Act as a key point of contact within the Firm for the client, together with the Partner / Director.
- Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and timescales and keep client / Partner / Director informed of overruns.
- Liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders.
- Self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within the Firm.
- Support, train, mentor and advise others in own area.
- Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
Requirements
- An in depth, up to date, technical knowledge of VAT and the ability to deal with complex issues.
- Project and staff management experience.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio profitably.
- Experience of dealing with client management and HMRC.
- CTA and / or ACA qualified or experienced within HMRC.
- Demonstrable VAT advisory experience.
- Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions.
