Our rapidly growing Private Client Team manage the tax affairs of private equity funds, unincorporated businesses, trusts, individuals and their wider families including working with many successful entrepreneurs. Alongside solving a constantly evolving range of technical challenges, working in this team involves building strong relationships with clients so you become their trusted advisor and oversee their tax affairs in line with what they want to achieve as an individual or business.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with your peers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help clients effectively. You’ll be encouraged and supported to identify and develop new business opportunities, both with existing clients and prospects, contributing to the growth of the team and enhancing delivery to our clients.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an in depth, up to date knowledge of taxation with experience of advising high net worth individuals, their families and wealth protection structures.
- Has experience of managing a portfolio of clients including control of client take-on and engagement, billings and identification of new opportunities.
- Is able to provide private client and trust compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients using resource from a shared service team.
- Has experience in being out in the market interacting with lawyers, financial advisers and other intermediaries to build relationships and introduce new work.
- Has an understanding of potential risks to the firm arising from various aspects of client engagement.
- Can guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
- Can support, train, mentor and advise others.
- Will challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
- Takes personal responsibility for own decisions and actions and those of others.
- Leads projects of varying scale and complexity.
- Is educated to degree level and is CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.
As part of your role you will be involved in:
- Looking after a portfolio of high-net-worth clients with complex needs and considering and anticipating their needs, working closely with the directors and partners delivering a client-centric service.
- Your role will include control of WIP, recoveries and billing.
- Advising on a range of tax matters, including succession planning and restructuring projects, as well as review of complex UK tax computations and returns.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients as appropriate to ensure the firm has the confidence of the client.
- Identify risk and technical matters, as well as business development opportunities to the Partner, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
- Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to.
