We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world. We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high-growth businesses that fuel the economy – and directly advise the owners and management teams leading them.
Learning and Development (L&D) is a key enabler of our strategy as an Audit Stream and critical to our success. It supports our ability to attract, develop and retain talented people who take pride in their work and successfully deliver for our business. Effective L&D underpins quality and productivity by supporting our people to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work, helping them reach their personal and professional potential. Effective L&D requires specialist resources who partner with the Audit Stream to identify training needs and appropriately respond to them. Careful planning and project management are necessary, as are a critical-thinking and commercial mindset, and an understanding of regulatory requirements.
We are looking for a talented, high performing and ambitious individual to join our Learning Implementation team on a medium-term temporary basis to support the effective delivery of our programmes. The role can be based anywhere in the UK. Travel to the London office, where the majority of the Audit L&D team is based, as well as some travel to other offices and external venues, will be required. Certain support on or delivery of courses will require residential stays.
Learning Implementation aims to provide our learners with the best possible learning experience. It is the team responsible for ensuring that our learning programmes are delivered effectively, leading on overall project, risk, financial and commercial management of our programmes. The successful candidate will join a team of coordinators within the Implementation team and support with all aspects of the implementation processes – ‘making the Learning happen’.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all logistical elements of our programmes, including but not limited to planning, scheduling, and managing our programmes, sourcing and managing suppliers and venues, building curriculums onto our learner management system, and providing support with the coordination of the Faculty (our tutor pool).
- Supporting coordination with the Audit Stream on learning logistics.
- Collaboration with Audit Stream operations teams (resourcing, headcount, finance) and stakeholders as appropriate to schedule event timings that align with needs of the business.
- Communicating with delegates regarding specific course requirements, providing consistent messaging in a timely manner.
- Developing your own knowledge of L&D policies and processes and identifying opportunities to share best practice (including opportunities to streamline / simplify operational processes).
- Supporting the management of the L&D Central Inbox and Service Now ticketing system and field out queries / actions as appropriate.
- Providing support for learning project initiation, project tracking, risk management and reporting.
- Working with the Course Manager and others to support the management of programme budgets, focusing specifically on the VFM generated with external suppliers.
- Supporting the Course Manager in the management of the course calendar ensuring sufficient programmes are running for the demand and managing the booking of training rooms/venue for these programmes.
- Providing administrative support during the learning evaluation process as directed by the relevant team within L&D.
- Supporting the Faculty programme with logistical and operational support as needed (under the direction of the Faculty Manager(s)).
Required skills and experience:
- Keen interest in supporting the development of others through the execution of personal duties.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, delivering to deadlines as appropriate.
- Previous experience with L&D activities (particularly with course management) would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal (with experience of data analytics preferable).
- Proven ability to problem-solve and focus on pragmatic, commercially viable solutions.
- Strong relationship skills with an ability to work with varied stakeholders, influence agendas and drive forward activities.
- Focus on personal development, operational excellence and quality.
