We are seeking a commercially driven Head of Retail Broking to lead AIB (Airsports Insurance Bureau), in Eastleigh, overseeing a portfolio across personal lines (home and motor) and commercial vehicle insurance. This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of a high-performing retail broking division, drive volume growth within specialist markets, and play a critical role in shaping the future of the business following recent acquisition.

The Opportunity AIB joined BDH Group in 2024 and represents a significant proportion of overall premium. With a strong foundation already in place, this role is focused on taking the business to the next level—driving growth, modernising operations, and identifying new opportunities across personal lines and commercial vehicle products. You will report into our commercial director and work closely with senior stakeholders across BDH Group to deliver performance, complete key integration activity, and position the business for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Growth & Performance
    • Lead the retail broking division to deliver new business growth across personal lines (home and motor) and commercial vehicle insurance.
    • Maintain and improve performance across an established book while identifying new revenue opportunities, particularly within niche segments.
  • Lead & Develop the Operation
    • Oversee a multi-team structure including New Business, Renewals, Servicing, High Net Worth and Migration.
    • Create a high-performance culture across a 40+ seat contact centre environment.
    • Ensure strong delivery within an advised sales model across all product lines.
  • Integration & Modernisation
    • Lead the continued migration of Academy personal lines business into AIB.
    • Identify opportunities to modernise processes, reducing manual activity and improving efficiency.
    • Work across systems including CDL (with legacy OpenGI exposure beneficial).
    • Strengthen and expand AIB’s position within specialist markets, including imported, kit and classic vehicles.
    • Drive growth across both standard and niche personal lines, as well as commercial vehicle offerings.
  • Stakeholder & Group Collaboration
    • Work closely with Group functions including Finance, Compliance and Marketing.
    • Identify and develop partnerships to support lead generation across personal and commercial lines.
    • Contribute to wider Group initiatives including acquisitions and new ventures.
    • Take ownership of performance metrics, book growth and profitability across all product lines.
    • Deliver against agreed targets with a strong focus on sustainable growth.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership experience within retail broking (insurance).
  • Strong experience across personal lines and/or commercial vehicle insurance.
  • Exposure to niche personal lines markets (e.g. specialist motor).
  • Background in advised sales environments (essential).
  • Commercially focused with a track record of delivering growth.
  • Experience leading operational teams within a contact centre environment.
  • Ability to drive change, modernisation and process improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple business functions.
