We are looking for a full time Pharmaceutical Physician specialising in Clinical Research to join our clinical team in BDD Pharma. BDD is a rapidly growing Contract Research Organisation and commercial Clinical Trials Unit based within the grounds of Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity to provide input and oversight across many therapeutic areas in clinical drug development providing support to the Research Medical Director. In this role you will be exposed to both the clinical site and clinical CRO parts of the business and will be involved in early phase drug development ranging from study design to study conduct and medical writing. Support may be given to acquire further training and qualification during employment such as the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine.

Key responsibilities:

  • Medical input into the design of clinical study protocols, participant information sheets and informed consent forms, clinical trial risk assessments and clinical study reports.
  • Medical input into IRAS forms and Clinical Trial Applications.
  • Attend Ethics committee meetings, site initiation meetings and client meetings as required.
  • Fulfil the role of co-investigator ensuring ICH/GCP and local regulations are met.
  • Following a period of appropriate experience and training, act as a principal investigator (PI) ensuring ICH/GCP and local regulations are met.
  • Liaise with and develop positive relationships with sponsors and clients as required.
  • Engage with quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in the unit clinical teaching programme.

Standard hours will be 9-5 or 8-4 Monday to Friday (37.5 hours a week) although shift work and on-call work will be required at times depending on study design.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
  • GMC registration with valid licence to practise.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience post qualification.
  • Active engagement in appraisal and revalidation activities as per GMC requirements.
  • Excellent team player with track record of building and sustaining positive relationships with colleagues and patients.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in recording data and ability to act on queries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Core practical skills including but not exclusive to venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation and NG tube insertion.
  • Minimum of ILS certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience post qualification.
  • Post graduate medical qualification (e.g. MRCP or similar).
  • Experience of working within clinical research as sub-investigator or higher.
  • Working knowledge of ICH GCP and valid GCP certificate.
  • Medical writing skills.
