Overview

In this role you will nurture and expand relationships within the small and steady business segment, driving loan portfolio growth and high‑quality client service. You will work with cross‑functional teams to identify opportunities for financing and consulting through the Virtual Business Centre. You’ll develop plans to retain and grow clients while applying sound credit judgment to proposals. This position offers the chance to influence outcomes for Canadian entrepreneurs in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow client relationships in the small business segment via phone or electronic channels
  • Develop and implement a customer retention/growth strategy to build a profitable loan portfolio
  • Identify and develop new financing and consulting opportunities for existing clients
  • Manage a diverse portfolio, aligning with VBC strategy and portfolio objectives
  • Create and execute a marketing plan to meet financial objectives (loss rate, profitability, revenue, retention)
  • Apply thorough credit analysis to prepare high-quality loan proposals within policy and procedure
  • Negotiate and analyze loan terms, perform due diligence, and manage accounts
  • Stay updated on policy, procedure, and process changes

Key requirements

  • Bachelor degree in commerce or business administration
  • 3-5 years of banking experience with proven sales skills
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills
  • Sound credit judgment and understanding of credit policies and practices
  • Ability to identify opportunities for entrepreneurs to benefit from BDC services
  • Thorough knowledge of bank products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Team player with understanding of small business dynamics
  • Bilingualism may be required depending on location
