Overview
Accountant III/Supervisor - available for Part-Time opportunity
Location: Germany or UK - Flexible
Direct Report: Accounting Sr Manager
Job Category: Exempt
Responsibilities
- Assist in financial close process, including but not limited to preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations
- Conduct financial analysis to support management and business partners
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, particularly German GAAP (HGB)
- Support statutory financial statements and external audits
- Understand and support VAT declaration and Intrastat reporting
- Assist in reviewing contract renewals, amendments, and new agreements from a financial and business operations perspective as well as day to day contract management
- Responsible for calculation and review of contractual obligation payments as well as tracking of minimum guarantees and ensuring they are paid in accordance with existing contractual due dates
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that the company has appropriate processes and procedures to adhere to the contract terms and deadlines
- Ability to understand if our existing ERP system can manage the requirements
- Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes
- Drive process improvements and standardization initiatives within accounting
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Required: Fluent in English and German
- 10+ years accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility and complexity in a company of $500M or greater, preferably in the merchandise branding industry
- Strong knowledge of German statutory accounting (HGB). Includes experience with multiple entities, foreign transactions, and multiple currencies
- Strong technical accounting skills. Ability to research accounting issues using appropriate guidance, and recommend appropriate accounting in accordance with HGB
- Experience with Oracle EBS preferred or similar major ERP system
- Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills (advanced formulas a plus)
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, global environment
- Understands German statutory accounting, controls and practices
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in English for a US based company
- Able to manage multiple priorities; demonstrates flexibility as priorities change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Self-motivated, solutions oriented team player with high energy
- Superb attention to detail, strong planning and excellent organization skills
- Ability to influence and build relationships cross functionally
- Diligent: ensures high quality of work and strives to reduce errors and review comments
- Efficient: completes projects / tasks in a timely manner
- Inquisitive: asks questions to better understand requirements and data
