As an Electrical Hardware Engineer you will join our engineering team and take technical ownership of the electrical hardware that supports our current infusion product portfolio. You will investigate complex PCBA and electronic product issues, develop compliant engineering solutions, and help maintain product safety, reliability, quality, and availability throughout the product lifecycle. Most of your work will focus on released products, including component obsolescence, fault diagnosis, controlled design changes, manufacturing support, supplier issues, and product reliability. You will also contribute to new product development by applying Design for Testability, Design for Manufacture, and Design for Assembly principles to PCBAs and electro-mechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Lead investigations into electrical and electronic issues, taking ownership from initial assessment through to effective closure.
- Diagnose PCBA, circuit, component, test-system, and electro-mechanical faults using schematics, test data, and structured root-cause analysis.
- Manage component obsolescence through impact assessment, alternative component evaluation, technical risk review, qualification, and implementation.
- Develop controlled engineering changes supported by clear technical justification, verification, validation, risk management, and configuration control.
- Support PCBA manufacturing lines, product transfers, test methods, supplier changes, qualification activities, and process validation.
- Resolve quality, yield, reliability, test, and manufacturing issues with production sites, suppliers, and technical teams.
- Contribute to new product development through design reviews, component selection, verification planning, and DFT, DFM, and DFA input.
- Deliver sustaining engineering projects and technical work packages to agreed quality, scope, and delivery requirements.
Preferred Requirements
- Hold an HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent practical experience in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Bring strong sustaining or post-release engineering experience with electronic or electro-mechanical products, ideally within medical devices or another regulated industry.
- Demonstrate circuit-level and component-level fault-finding experience using schematics, test data, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, or logic analysers.
- Understand analogue and digital circuits, power supplies, interfaces, sensors, embedded hardware, PCBA manufacturing, assembly, testing, and common failure modes.
- Apply experience in component obsolescence, engineering change control, verification, qualification, process validation, and DFT, DFM, or DFA principles.
- Work proactively across multiple technical priorities, communicate findings clearly, challenge assumptions constructively, and take accountability for decisions and outcomes.
