Reporting to the Moulding Planned Maintenance Leader, the Preventative Maintenance Technician (Moulding) is responsible for executing and optimising preventative maintenance routines on injection moulding machines and ancillary equipment. The role includes ownership of planned maintenance cycles, shutdown coordination, and collaboration with Production, Engineering and Stores to ensure effective delivery of maintenance plans. The position supports continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Procedures, safe working practices and the requirement for high standards of housekeeping in all areas where machine maintenance work is undertaken.
  • Ensure that any statutory legislation and/or quality system requirements are adhered to with regard to process changes and equipment modification.
  • Respond to emergencies by working overtime as required by the Moulding Planned Maintenance Leader.
  • Establish clear written maintenance procedures for each machine, including checklists and maintenance intervals.
  • Maintain all equipment as assigned, and in accordance with requirements detailed on the appropriate schedule/plan or work instruction.
  • Maintain spares records to facilitate replenishment and cost control; coach, mentor, and train maintenance associates to use logical root cause analysis during the resolution of mould machine issues.
  • Implement containment, corrective and preventative measures.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and process improvements to deliver the PM maintenance plan.
  • Capture resource requirements within the budget cycle; authorities to execute responsibilities detailed in the job description.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Time served as an apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
  • ONC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience ideally within a high-volume injection moulding environment.
  • Experience in performing mould machine maintenance and repair duties.
  • Experience in training and developing individuals.
  • Experience with SAP or maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to work to engineering drawings (pre‑requisite).
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Root cause analysis capability.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • IT literacy including SAP.
  • Strong safety and quality focus.
