We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team and support our broader repairs and maintenance by efficiently and effectively delivering high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair work across all existing and new projects. This role is busy, varied and you will be working with experienced professionals from a variety of trades. You will be asked to perform all aspects of electrics, general repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment work within tenanted, commercial, and void properties. A key focus is achieving a first-time fix for all jobs undertaken, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lighting, and wiring.
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.
  • Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.
  • Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.
  • Complete required documentation of repairs and service information.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts.
  • Calibrate equipment to provided specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot problems and make timely repairs.
  • Communicate with the wider repairs and maintenance and trade personnel in team as well as liaise with clients, suppliers and other trades.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • NVQ level 3 or above.
  • 18th Edition.
  • Test and inspect 2391 – Desirable.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality electrical works to meet client expectations on projects whilst maintaining efficient output.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work.
  • Ability to calculate basic mathematical problems.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
  • Capability of taking initiative and working independently.
  • Ability to communicate with key stakeholders effectively and confidently.

Working arrangements:

  • Hours: 36 hours per week (Mon – Fri).
  • Location: Barking & Dagenham area (travel throughout the borough will be required as part of the role).
  • Pay: £42,000 per annum.
  • Driving is required as part of the role as such a full clean UK driving licence is essential.
  • DBS required due to the nature of occupied premises and sites.
