Are you practical, hardworking, and keen to learn a skilled trade? BD Group is looking for a motivated Bricklaying Apprentice to join our team and develop the skills, knowledge, and experience required to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying. Working alongside experienced professionals across Barking & Dagenham, you'll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of bricklaying while building the foundations for a rewarding career in construction.
Location: Various sites across the Borough, with Head Office based at The Cube, Yew Tree Avenue, Dagenham, RM10 7FN
Reports to: Service Delivery Manager
Duration: Minimum 2-year apprenticeship programme
What You'll Be Doing
As a Bricklaying Apprentice, you'll learn the practical skills and techniques required to become a qualified bricklayer while working on live construction and maintenance projects.
- Learn how to measure work areas and assist with basic setting out.
- Mix mortar safely and correctly.
- Lay bricks and blocks under the guidance of experienced operatives.
- Measure and cut bricks and blocks (under supervision).
- Learn how to line, level, and gauge brickwork accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Assist with the protection of completed work and construction materials.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Work effectively with colleagues across different teams and departments.
- Minimise material waste and understand the importance of delivering value for money within a publicly funded organisation.

Salary & Working Hours
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Rate of Pay: Apprenticeship Rate: £8.00 per hour
Age 18–20: £10.85 per hour
Age 21 and over: £12.71 per hour
