We are seeking an experienced and proactive Interim HR Business Partner to provide high‑quality HR support across our organisation, ensuring effective employee relations, robust HR governance, and the consistent application of policies and procedures.
As our Interim HRBP, you will act as a key adviser to senior managers, supporting a range of divisional needs including ER casework, organisational change, coaching, compliance, and HR project delivery. You will take the lead on HR advisory support, employment law guidance, stakeholder coaching, and data‑driven insight to help shape people‑focused outcomes and build management capability.
Key Responsibilities- Business Partnering & Advisory Support
- Act as the day‑to‑day HR lead for designated divisions.
- Provide best‑practice HR advice across all elements of operational HR and employee relations.
- Offer clear guidance on policies, procedures, employment law and ER interventions.
- Support managers in resolving employee issues, ensuring fairness, compliance, and organisational consistency.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders, positioning HR as a value‑adding partner.
- Employee Relations & Case Management
- Lead and support complex ER cases, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters and sickness/absence management.
- Provide subject‑matter expert input on ER and employment law matters.
- Engage with external parties such as solicitors and ACAS when required.
- Maintain accurate case records using the HR tracker and ensure interventions meet internal timescales.
- Governance, Compliance & Systems
- Ensure all HR activity aligns with company policies, safeguarding, GDPR and audit standards.
- Maintain accurate employee information using HR systems (including CIPHR).
- Highlight risk, non‑compliance, or poor practice to the Head of HR as needed.
- Produce accurate HR data insights to support decision‑making.
- Coaching, Development & Capability Building
- Coach managers to enhance people leadership capability and consistent practice.
- Share best practice across the wider HR advisory team.
- Support staff welfare initiatives and case‑related wellbeing interventions.
- Projects, Change & Organisational Development
- Support or lead HR projects, including change programmes and TUPE activity.
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and improvement initiatives.
- Identify trends across the organisation and propose proactive solutions.
- Essential Experience
- Background in HR management with extensive operational HR and ER experience.
- Strong track record of coaching managers and enabling effective people leadership.
- Experience managing union relationships and supporting formal employee relations cases.
- Demonstrable capability in using data to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
- Experience handling employment law matters, including some exposure to ET claims.
- Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent understanding of employment law, HR operations and best practice.
- Ability to interpret and communicate cost impacts, cost‑to‑serve and variance analysis.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and HR/performance reporting tools.
- Proficient user of HR systems and ability to translate data into actionable insights.

- Experience with TUPE.
- Experience working with solicitors and ACAS.
- Proven ability to support HR projects and organisational initiatives.
- CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) and ideally Chartered CIPD membership.
- Degree‑level qualification.
- Salary: Interim circa ÂŁ50,000
- Location: Dagenham (Hybrid – 3 days office‑based)
